Biography
Ohiozoba Oyakhire Ehiede
Author · Academic Researcher · Cultural Documentarian
Ohiozoba Oyakhire Ehiede was born in Nigeria and received his primary, secondary and tertiary education across both the Northern and Southern parts of the country. This breadth of experience gave him a uniquely pan-Nigerian lens through which he interprets culture, community, and human nature.
An avid reader with a passion for academic research and writing, Ehiede brings a scholar's rigour to his fiction. He exudes a resounding penchant for excellence and achieving sterling positive results. Above all, he is a man who deeply believes in God and is happily married with children.
His fiction is firmly rooted in the oral traditions and communal memory of the Afemai people of Edo State. A Thousand Swords for Otuo — first published in 2009 and now in its third edition (2022) — is his most celebrated work. The novel captures the spiritual weight, social customs, and warrior ethos of the Otuo kingdom in a way that feels both historically grounded and urgently relevant.
Where others might see ancient folklore as material to be adapted or modernised, Ehiede treats it as living testimony — deserving of careful, faithful transmission. The result is fiction that doesn't just tell a story, but preserves a world.
